The University of Connecticut Archives & Special Collections at the Dodd Research Center and the UConn Avery Point Campus presents U. Roberto Romano Papers: Photographs of Child Labor in Coastal Countries, an installation of photographs and mixed media from the U. Roberto (Robin) Romano Collection. Robin Romano’s (1956-2013) photographic and documentary film work on global child labor spans the late 20th century to the digital 21st century. Robin’s most notable work includes his photography series and film Stolen Childhoods (2005), The Dark Side of Chocolate (2010), and his last feature length documentary film The Harvest/ La Cosecha (2010). Robin dedicated his life to documenting child labor and human rights issues throughout the world, as represented in his photographs dealing with light manufacturing, farming and resource extraction industries in the Middle East, India and West Africa. This exhibition also features a rare look into the work that he created in coastal countries, containing photographs on the Jermals (fishing platforms) of Southeast Asia.
