  • 5/22 Spring Valley Student Farm Tuesday Tour and Talk

UConn Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF) Tuesday, May 22, 2018

Free Tuesday Tour on-going between 3-8 PM

Garden Talk held at 5 and 7 PM (re-scheduled due to rain event on 5/15)

Our pollinators love dandelions and you should too! Visit the Farm to learn all the amazing reasons why you should welcome these cheerful yellow blossoms into your life. This fun and interesting talk about dandelions will be given at 5 and 7 PM. The talk is free and open to all!

We invite you to visit UConn’s own Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF) every Tuesday, throughout the summer, from 3 to 8 PM.

The students living and working at SVSF will lead guided tours of the fields, greenhouses, bee hives and edible forest garden where they cultivate a wide variety of sustainably grown vegetables, herbs, edible flowers and small fruits. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the on-going Aquaponic, Solar Thermal, Sustainable Community Food System and many other sustainability projects. The tours are open to all!

Would you like to roll up your sleeves and play in the soil? Would you like to learn about food production using organic methods? Then join us on Tuesdays for some hands-on fun with plants and soil.  No previous experience necessary! We provide the tools, techniques and opportunity to explore the fascinating world of healthy local food production. Remember to dress for outdoor conditions.

All produce is available on campus at Chuck and Augie’s restaurant and One Plate Two Plates in the Student Union and at select dining halls. It is available for purchase at the Farm Fresh Market, in front of Homer Babbidge Library, every Thursday from 11:30 to 1:30 beginning Thursday, May 24, 2017.
