  • Population Food and Environment - Online, Summer 1

Are you interested in learning about how an increasing global population and its changing needs are impacting the environment? Would you like to learn about how we are threatening forest, fishery, and wildlife resources?  Are you concerned that freshwater availability around the world is declining?  Will we be able to assure sustainable food supplies?  Why do you think a high percentage of children in many countries suffer from poor nutrition and stunted growth?  How is climate change likely to affect the U.S. and other parts of the world? Would you like to understand how more effective policies could be designed to address these and other related issues?

Then consider enrolling in ARE 1110, Population, Food, and the Environment! This 3-credit course is offered completely online in the upcoming Summer Session 1.  The subject matter is interdisciplinary, but a strong emphasis is placed on role of socio-economic factors in formulating better public policies.  Credits earned from taking ARE 1110 may be counted towards meeting the University’s General Education Requirements in Content Area 2 (Social Sciences).  Also, the course has no prerequisites!
