  • 4/12 Dance: "Carnaval" by Soame Citlalime

Please join Learning Community La Comunidad Intelectual, the Mexican Student Association, El Instituto, PRLACC, and the Department of Dramatic Arts for a presentation by Soame Citlalime, a Mexican women's theater collaborative and activist organization.

Soame Citlalime enact their own stories of challenges with transnational migration through theater and dance. They work to educate audiences about international immigration policies as well as preserve native cultural practices being lost from out-migration.

At 2:00pm in the Nate Katter Theater, they will perform Mariposa Viajera (Traveling Butterfly) in Spanish with English Subtitles. The play asks participants to reflect on root causes of migration, both domestic and global.

At 5:00pm in Laurel Hall 102, they will perform "Carnaval", a traditional Mexican dance
