Gender-based street harassment is a form of gender-based violence that disproportionately impacts women and gender non-conforming individuals. As a part of programming leading up to Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Violence Against Women Prevention Program will be hosting a social media and chalking campaign that seeks to raise awareness about the pervasiveness of gender-based street harassment. Catcalls of UConn is a spin-off of the chalking project that initially started with @CatcallsofNYC. Chalking will include messages and comments that are targeted at UConn students.
Submissions will be open until Sunday, April 8, and will be chalked in different areas around campus. Pictures of submissions will be posted to the @uconnwomenscenter Instagram page.
