MDC Water Main through 195 Farmington and Shuttle Lot 3
- Installation of a new larger and redundant water supply line to the campus by the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC). Work will be progressing into Shuttle Lot 3 requiring some areas to be fenced. The area will be repaved upon completion of work.
- A new sidewalk from Farmington Avenue to the 195 parking area will provide safe means to travel to/from the street and the building.
- A new sidewalk connecting the 195 to Shuttle Lot 3 is planned for the spring of 2018 allowing pedestrian access to the main campus.
- Paving to begin on or about 11/15/2017. Work at 195 will be complete late November.
- Work in Shuttle Lot 3 will begin in November and be complete in the spring 2018.
- Parking on west side of the 195 is closed and barricaded as a construction site. Do not enter the closed area.
- Some odors and dust is anticipated, control measures are in place.
Structural Beam Repairs
- The work requires periodic hammer drilling which will be scheduled around activities in the auditoriums. Call Leo Girard (G.L. Capasso) at 203-695-8500 if there are any issues.
- The Patterson side outside exit is closed except for fire emergencies. Please observe signs, safety fencing and barriers directing pedestrian travel. The exit is expected to reopen late November.
Munson Road Skylight Installation
- Noise from periodic cutting and hammer drilling for relatively short intervals.
- The work will require temporary closures of some open areas, passages and cubicles for access. Communication will be made to the occupants affected.
L Building Renovations
- Project Scope: Renovation of L Building labs
- Schedule: Substantial Completion May 2017
- Impacts:
- A shutdown of the general lab exhaust is scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 6 a.m. – 4 p.m. This shutdown will only impact floors 1 – 3 between the 2 elevator banks (near the library and near C building) located in L building, rooms (L1041 – L1072), (L202040A – L2064) and (L3041 – L3063).
Main Building – Clinic (C) Area Renovations
Project Scope: Renovations to Dental care areas, Cardiology, Main Lobby and other clinical areas. Replace mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems associated with the renovated areas.
Schedule: Phase 1 complete, Phase 2 complete; 4/2018, Phase 3 and 4; complete 12/2018
- New auto door openers are being installed for all clinical waiting rooms. The openers are planned to be complete by 11/9.
- Be aware of posted signage and do not enter construction areas.
- Roof work may generate some odors and drilling noise, please contact Kevin Norton 860-480-9815 to report any issues.
Main Accumulation Area Facility (MAA Building)
Project Scope: Construction of a new 2,500 sf facility to consolidate chemical waste handling and shipping activities.
Schedule: Complete June 2018
Impacts:
- Jobsite fencing has displaced parking spots in the Lot B. Fencing on east road requires that the sidewalk in this area be closed. A detour marked with fencing and cones directing pedestrians around the construction area is in place.
- Some localized dust in the area of construction. Measures are in place to minimize dust; however some dust from excavations should be anticipated. Please keep this in mind when choosing parking around this area.
- Excavator operated impact hammers will be used to break up an existing concrete slab in the construction area.
- Site lighting has been removed within the construction area which may impact lighting at the East Road parking areas adjacent to the site.
- The East Dock metal ramp is being removed and the door it leads to will be locked and secured shut.
