    Shipping Hazardous Materials Training Session

The Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulate shipments of packages containing hazardous material.  A hazardous material would include a chemical, a radioactive material, dry ice, a biological material, lithium ion batteries or a gas.  Federal requirements state that anyone shipping such a material be appropriately trained and that the material must be placed into approved packaging. Fed Ex drop boxes should not be used as a package shipping tool.  Packages should be shipped through the West Dock Materials Management Department.

The next Dangerous Goods Shipping training session for biological material and dry ice is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 1:30 to 3 pm. Please contact the Environmental Health and Safety Office at x2723 for your training reservation or for any question about shipping hazardous materials.
