Passwords are the foundation of information security. They are the first line of defense in securing our systems and data. Creating a strong password is easier than you think. Follow these simple tips to protect yourself online:
Take time to review your password strategy.
Opt for long passwords using letters, numbers and symbols.
Passwords created from passphrases are simple to remember and secure. For example:
- MyD0GJon@th@n (My dog Jonathan)
- H1k3r$GuiDe42 (Hikers Guide 42)
- I<3EdSh33ran! (I love Ed Sheeran)
STOP. NEVER share your password.
Easy passwords should not be used.
Change passwords regularly.
Require different passwords for different accounts and devices.
Engage the Service Desk for password assistance.
Taping passwords to monitors is not a good idea.
If you need assistance with creating or resetting a password, contact the Service Desk at x4400.
