MDC Water Main Through 195 Farmington and Shuttle Lot 3

    • The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) and its contractors are working at 195 Farmington Ave. installing a new larger water supply for our campus.
    • The trenching work will continue and should not have any impact on normal activities at 195.
    • Additional notices will be sent out as the work progresses detailing any parking or shuttle bus impacts as required.
    • The finished product includes final paving of the lot at 195 and a sidewalk through to Shuttle Lot 3.

Steam Pipe Installation Between Buildings A and B

    • The contractor, Connecticut Boiler, has nearly completed the outside work.
    • The new sidewalk and remaining patio section is complete with just the landscaping restoration remaining.
    • Please observe signs, safety fencing and barriers directing pedestrian travel.

    Structural Beam Repairs

    • C. L. Capasso Construction is working on a structural beam repair project on the subbasement level of the A Building.
    • The work has two phases, including some outside sidewalk which will require closing the exit on either side of the academic entrance.
    • The work will have some periodic hammer drilling which will be scheduled around activities in the auditoriums. Call Leo Girard (G.L. Capasso) at 203-695-8500 if there are any issues.
    • The Patterson side outside exit is closed except for fire emergencies. Please observe signs, safety fencing and barriers directing pedestrian travel.

    Munson Road Skylight Installation

    • The contractor is in the process of installing over 100 new skylights on three roof levels at Munson Road.
    • Work requires periodic cutting and hammer drilling for relatively short intervals.
    • The work will require temporary closures of some open areas, passages and cubicles for access. Communication will be made to the occupants affected.

    Academic Building Addition and Renovation

    • Construction continues on the wellness center in the areas of LM032, LM034 and LM036. Noise from normal construction activities is to be expected. If the noise is overly disruptive, please call Dave Semnoski, 540-841-4134.
    • On Saturday, September 30, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., new ceiling framing outside of the bookstore will take place. Please use L Building main corridor to access the café during these times.

Main Building – Clinic (C) Area Renovations

    • Construction work for Phase 2 will continue on the 2nd, 1st, Main and Ground floors. Please follow directions on all posted signage and do not enter construction areas.

Main Accumulation Area Facility (MAA Building)

    • The main accumulation area facility building project has kicked off. Jobsite fencing has been installed in parking at the south end of Lot A/B at the southeast end. Site work will impact several parking spots on East Road in the coming weeks. Silt fencing installation will begin next week. Site clearing and excavation will begin after the silt fencing is installed. Even though measures will be taken to minimize dust, site exaction will create some dust around the site. Please keep this in mind when choosing parking around this area.
