  • SEBAC Ratification

The labor savings package negotiated between the State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) and the Malloy administration has been ratified by the state employee unions.

The agreement does not take effect until it is ratified by the state legislature.

Broadly, the agreement provides an estimated $1.5 billion in savings over the next two years through wage freezes, furlough days, and additional employee contributions to retirement and health benefits. It also provides four years of protection from privatization and layoffs, and extends the SEBAC contract (which covers health care and retirement for all state employees) from 2022 to 2027.

Union employees should contact their individual bargaining unit's resources and leadership for additional details, including how this development impacts their next contract with UConn Health. The local contracts are also subject to legislative approval.
