Construction Update

    Connecticut Tower (‘H’ Building) Caulking and Sealant Replacement

    • Work on the Connecticut Tower to remove and replace the exterior precast panel joints continues. Contractor is working from suspended staging planks against the exterior of the building. Noise from grinding and scraping will be experienced as the work is executed. The work will continue through the end of July.
    • There will be no impact to exterior activities around the building.

    Building 20 – Plaza Construction

    • Landscaping work is scheduled to start Tuesday, June 20. Completion will take a week. Majority of work will take place within the fenced area; occasional machine travel on the public safety sidewalk will be required. A flagger will be on hand as needed to assist in directing pedestrians. The area will be outfitted with tables and umbrellas.

    Academic Building Addition and Renovation

    • Construction has begun on the wellness center in the areas of LM032, LM034 and LM036. Noise from normal construction activities is to be expected. If the noise is overly disruptive, please call Richard Spash 860-216-7650.

    Main Building – Clinic (C) Area Renovations

    • The main lobby entrance will be closed to staff over the next several weekends. (Note: this entrance is NOT open to patients on the weekends) Employees can access the C Building through the University Tower or the Academic Research Building.
    • The elevators at the main entrance no longer runs to the 2nd floor, but remains running to ground, main and 1st floor for the duration of renovations. Construction work continues on the 2nd, 1st and main ground floors. Please follow directions on all posted signage and do not enter construction areas.

    Parking Lot C:

    • Parking Lot C, which has been closed since the academic building addition began, is currently being repaired and repaved. Barring weather delays, the lot is anticipated to reopen the first week of July to staff with Area 1 permits. As a reminder, people with Area 1 NA permits may not park in the academic lots.

    Parking Lot A/B:

    • After Parking Lot C is reopened, parking Lot A/B will be closed to complete steam system excavation and then repair and repave the lot. This work will be completed by approximately mid-August. People with Area 1 permits who typically use this lot should plan to use the newly reopened Lot C, Lots D and K, the employee sections of Garages 1, 2 or 3 or Area 3 spaces, along with other Area 1 designated spaces on campus. As a reminder, people with Area 1 NA permits may not park in the academic lots.

    Musculoskeletal Institute – Surgery Center Canopy Installation:

    • A canopy will be installed at the second floor Surgery Center entrance on Saturday, June 17 between 8 a.m. and noon. The Surgery Center is not open on weekends and the entrance will be closed to all traffic during the installation except for emergency egress. If rain is significant, this installation will be postponed.
