    Utility Shutdowns

    A Building and Library Shutdowns:

    WHAT:              Normal electrical power (Emergency power outlets and emergency and egress lighting will remain active during the shutdown)

    WHERE:           AM001-032, AG025-073, AB011-51, including freezers in AB056A, Library Elevator, Computer Room A/C AB012 and electron beam AB027

    WHEN:             Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 28 and 29, 3:30 to 7:30 a.m.

    WHY:                To install new electrical equipment for the L Building project.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:        Do not use library elevator and do not access freezers.

    A Building and L Building Shutdowns:

    WHAT:              Normal electrical power (Emergency power outlets and emergency and egress lighting will remain active during the shutdown)

    WHERE:           AB002-053, AG001-029, AM001-14, L Building lab normal electrical panels: All floors, Rooms 1 – 59.

    WHEN:             Thursday, Dec. 29, 3:30 to 7:30 a.m.

    WHY:                To install new electrical equipment for the L Building project.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:        Turn off computers and sensitive equipment on normal power.

    Munson Road Elevator Repairs

    •        Work to repair the elevators is underway. The repair is anticipated to be complete by the end of the month.

    Munson Road Roof Replacement

    • The final new roof layer on all main roof levels is complete.  Work has begun on the final counterflashing.
    • Assembly of the new patio on Level 4 is in progress.
    • Workers continue to reinstall the exterior caulk and power wash the building via the boom lift.
    • All entrances to the building will remain open. Please be observant of construction equipment carting materials around the building.

    Building 20 Demolition

    • The demolition of Building 20 is in full swing and the main structure will be down within two weeks.
    • Work will continue as weather permits but the final restoration of the site will not be completed until spring.
    • A small area of the parking lot will be fenced off during the demolition.

    Main Building – Lab (L) Renovations

    • Construction drilling will occur sporadically during normal working hours. Noisy construction activities are scheduled to stop by 8 a.m. Users who are impeded by noise are encouraged to call John Banta 860-818-8857 or Steve Glanzrock at 860-227-6467.

    University Tower

    Phase 2B work continues and consists of:

    • Construction of new corridor through the former ED space, anticipated completion in early February.

    Academic Building Addition and Renovation

    • There will be no access up or down from Stair 3 next to the book store at the main level. Please use the stairs in the academic atrium to access the main level. This work is being done so the new HVAC system can be connected to the main level. The stairs will reopen on Jan. 3.
    • There will be no access up or down from Stair 2 at the main level until Jan. 9. Please use the stairs in the Academic atrium to access the main level.
    • Through Dec. 30, the academic main corridor will be closed from the fire doors next to the bookstore down to AM045. During this time the ceiling will be removed, ductwork insulated, and a new ceiling will be reinstalled.

    Clinic (C) Building Renovations

    • The elevator at the main entrance no longer runs to the 2nd floor, but remains running to ground, main and 1st floor for the duration of renovations. Demolition work continues on the 2nd, 1st and main floors. Please follow directions on all posted signage and do not enter construction areas.

    Main Road Sewer Line Excavation:

    • The main sewer line on Main Road will be excavated in an area to the east of the Shuttle Lot 2 bus stop between Shuttle Lot 2 and the roundabout. The digging is needed to evaluate repair of the line. Digging will start Dec. 27 and go between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. There will be no impact on UConn Health services due to this exploratory digging at this time. Traffic impact on Main Road should be minimal.
