The Department of Administrative Services, in partnership with the Connecticut Training & Development Network (CTDN), is pleased to offer the 8th cohort of the Aspiring Leaders Executive Development Program for State of Connecticut managers. This managerial development program will be held March through June, 2017. The program focuses on the critical skills needed for effective leadership today and in the future. It includes high level speakers in government leadership from the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches. Each participant will develop a capstone project proposal, utilizing training from the program, to address critical agency needs, such as succession planning, improving internal processes, implementing cultural change initiatives to improve customer service, or other important goal selected by your agency. Participants will also be asked read a best-selling leadership book as part of their curriculum.
Eligibility: All nominees must meet all the following conditions:
- Must be in the managerial series - curriculum is specifically designed for middle management
- Cannot have previously attended a management development program five days or more in length (not including the New Manager Orientation Program)
- Should be a rising, middle level manager
- Should be in good standing with the agency
- Must complete the program application in full and be approved by the agency head or designee with signature
- Must be capable of working on the capstone project and completing the assigned reading, while managing their regular work assignments
- Must be available for all program training dates
Program Dates: The program includes 11 full days of training, March through June, 2017

Cost: $200 per person; includes requried copyrighted materials, reading assignment book, and additional class resources.
Class Size: Limited to 25 participants; two nominees per agency.
