Dr. Annabelle Rodriguez is seeking volunteers to be part of a genetic cholesterol study. This research is being done at Clinical Research Unit at University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, to understand why heart disease occurs in people with high levels of the good, healthy cholesterol (HDL). This study is about testing variations within the HDL receptor, SR-B1, gene. The purpose of this study is to better understand how variations within this gene affect cholesterol levels. We are looking for men or women, aged 18 to 80 years who have a HDL level greater than 60 mg/dl. Participants will have blood draws, physical exam, electrocardiogram and urine pregnancy test for women capable of bearing children on 2 study visits 1-2 months apart. All study participants will receive $25.00 after each visit.
