  • Influenza Vaccination, Aging and Genetics Research

    The UConn Center on Aging is teaming up with Jackson Laboratory to gain a better understanding of the aging process that could possibly help lead to the development of new treatments which promote health and independence in old age. The purpose of this study is to explore how aging is impacted by our genetic makeup.

    To Be Eligible:

    • Must be willing to receive the FDA approved Seasonal Influenza Vaccination as part of the study and have not yet received this year's flu vaccine;
    • Men and Women must be either 20-40 years old or 65 years old or older;

    • Not have any heart disease, known kidney disease, no immunosuppresive diseases or on any immunosuppresive therapy;

    • Participants must be willing to come in for 5 study visits over 3 months where blood will be drawn at each visit..

       

    Volunteers that complete the study will be reimbursed $50 for their participation.
