Construction Update

    Munson Road Escalator Repairs

    • The escalator upgrades and repairs have begun and will continue through the middle of November. Please use caution around any of the barricaded areas.

     

    Munson Road Elevator Repairs

    • Work to repair the elevators is underway. The repair is anticipated to be complete in 4 weeks.

     

    Munson Road Roof Replacement

    • The dumpsters remain on the lower level while Level 2 has been returned to normal use.
    • Bulk demolition has been completed on all roof levels while minor sidewalk demolition is taking place near the cooling towers at the north end of the building.
    • The final new roof section is being installed on the 4th level while Levels 2, 3 and 5 are complete except for counterflashing and detail work. Barrel and stair tower work continues.
    • Periods of hammer drilling and/or Sawzall work will continue over the next few weeks in various areas.
    • Workers continue to remove and reinstall the exterior caulk and power wash the building via the boom lift. Please observe all barriers.
    • All entrances to the building will remain open and please be observant of construction equipment carting materials around the building.

     

    Main Building – Lab (L) Renovations

    • Stairwell LS4 will be closed except for emergency access until mid-November due to rewiring of existing lighting circuits. Lower sections of the stairs will be opened for emergency egress only. Please refer to signage and evacuation plans at each level on the stairwell doors. Alternative evacuation plans are identified in the event of an emergency.
    • Construction drilling will occur sporadically during normal working hours. Noisy construction activities are scheduled to stop by 8 a.m. Users who are impeded by noise are encouraged to call John Banta 860-818-8857 or Steve Glanzrock at 860-227-6467.

     

    Repaving of Parking Lots D and K                                                          

    • Parking Lot D is currently closed for repaving and is on track to reopen Monday, November 14. Please review the alternate parking recommendations provided by the Parking, Transportation and Event Services office in the UConn Health Lifeline.
    • After Parking Lot D has been reopened, Parking Lot K will be closed for approximately 10 days. In addition to scheduled maintenance and repaving, surface lot construction associated with the Academic Building Addition and the entrances to Lots D, K and A/B will be completed in this immediate area as well.
    • Please drive carefully in these areas during this time and be conscious of additional construction vehicle traffic. Thank you for your patience while we complete these improvements to our campus.

     

    University Tower

    Phase 2B Work continues and consists of:

    • Construction of new corridor through the former E.D. space.

     

    Academic Building Addition and Renovation

    Building Addition Activities:

    • Starting on Monday, November 7, there will be no access up or down from Stair 3 next to the book store at the main level. Please use the stairs in the Academic atrium to access the main level. This work is being done so the new HVAC system can be connected to the main level The Stair closure will be for about 2 weeks.

     

    Clinic (C) Building Renovations:

    • The main lobby is closed for renovations. Temporary access through the lobby is scheduled to be open by the end of this year. Construction areas are closed and restricted to construction personnel only. Please follow signs for the designated detours around construction areas.
    • The elevator at the main entrance no longer runs to the 2nd floor, but remains running to ground, main, and 1st floor for the duration of renovations.
    • Demolition work continues on the 2nd, 1st and main floor. Please follow directions on all posted signage and do not enter construction areas.
