    Utility Shutdowns:
    L Building Shutdowns:

    What:               Shutdown Notice 95 – RO/DI Water
    Where:             All of L Building
    When:              Friday, September 30, at 5 p.m. – Sunday, October 4, at 3 p.m.
    Why:                Relocate piping in penthouse and perform maintenance on the system
    What You Need To Do: Turn off anything that requires RO/DI water. Glassware washers and anything else that uses DI water will not be available.

    What:               Shutdown Notice 100 – Normal Power
    Where:             Floors 1 – 7, Rooms LXX083 – LX0121
    When:              Tuesday, October 4, from 5 – 8 a.m.
    Why:                Add new switches to A-1 riser
    What You Need To Do: Turn off all computers, lab equipment plugged into normal power Monday at the end of the work day.

    WHAT:             Shutdown Notice 103A & B – Normal Power Lighting
    WHERE:           Floors 4 – 7, Rooms LXX035 – LX069
    WHEN:             Thursday, October 4, from 5 – 8 a.m.
    WHY:               Remove abandoned wiring
    WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Be aware normal lighting will be off. Emergency lighting will remain on.

    Munson Road Escalator Repairs:

    • The escalator upgrades and repairs have begun and will continue through the middle of November. Please use caution around any of the barricaded areas.

    Munson Road Roof Replacement:

    • The crane and dumpsters will be relocated Thursday night. Some parking spaces will be affected. Do not move barriers or barricades.
    • The new roof installation is nearing completion on the stair tower and barrel sections on the north end of the building.
    • Demolition work on the 4th floor plaza will start next week.
    • The 5th floor roof is watertight. The new roof system will be completed next week, weather permitting.
    • The initial membrane installation is completed on the 3rd floor roof and insulation and final membranes are being installed, weather permitting.
    • Access to work areas on the 2nd and 3rd floor will be needed on Saturday through Monday, October 8 – October 10 for the installation of roof drains and piping. Work will be coordinated with building occupants. 
    • Periods of hammer drilling and/or sawsall work will occur over the next few weeks in various areas.
    • Workers will continue to remove and reinstall the exterior caulking around the building via the boom lift. Please observe all barriers.
    • All entrances to the building will remain open and please be observant of construction equipment carting materials around the building.

    Main Building – Lab (L) Renovations:

    • Stairwell LS4: Will be closed except for emergency access until October 1. Lower sections of the stairs will be opened as work is completed. Please refer to signage and evacuation plans at each level on the stairwell doors. Alternative evacuation plans are identified in the event of an emergency.
    • Construction drilling will occur sporadically during normal working hours. Noisy construction activities are scheduled to stop by 8 a.m. Users who are impeded by noise are encouraged to call John Banta 860-818-8857 or Steve Glanzrock at 860-227-6467.

    University Tower:
    Phase 2B Work continues and consists of:

    • Site/Landscape work outside old ED entrance.

    Main Building Renovation:
    Main Building Entrance – Main Lobby Renovations:

    • The Main Lobby is closed for renovations. The renovations for the lobby are scheduled to be complete by the end of this year. Construction areas are closed and restricted to construction personnel only. Please follow signs for the designated detours around construction areas.
    • The elevator at the main entrance will no longer run to the 2nd floor, but will remain running to Ground, Main and 1st floor for the duration of renovations.

    Academic Building Addition and Renovation:
    Building Addition Activities:

    • West Road pavement will be taking place Saturday, October 1, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. A total of twelve parking spaces will be closed starting Thursday afternoon, September 29, as spaces become available for Saturday’s pavement repairs.

    Clinic Building Renovations:

    • Demolition work continues on the 2nd floor, 1st and Main floor. Please follow directions on all posted signage and do not enter Construction Areas.
