Utility Shutdowns:
Academic Building:
What: Shutdown Notice 66 – Electrical Shutdown Panel MK and ERMK
Where: AB037 – 46 & AG058 – 96
When: Saturday, September 24, from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Why: Remove MK panel and relocate ERMK Main Disconnect
What You Need To Do: Turn off all computers Friday after work.
Main Building:
- The main boiler plant will be shutdown Saturday, September 24, from 3 a.m. – 5 p.m. All equipment requiring processed steam will not be functional in the Main Building complex including A, B, C , E, F, H, K, L, & University Tower. Central Sterile will not be operational. Room temperatures may be cooler than normal. University Tower heat will not be impacted.
Steam Manhole in Parking Lots A/B:
- HVAC/R shop and S.K. Mechanical have started the steam line repairs in the steam vault outside Building #20 and Police Department. Please be aware of construction vehicles and the open hole in the parking lot. Date of completion is the week of September 26th. Do not move any barricades. Please be aware of construction activities and follow instructions.
Munson Road Roof Replacement:
- The new roof installation is nearing completion on the stair tower and barrel sections on the north end of the building.
- Demolition work the 3rd floor plaza will be completed next week. The installation of the new roofing system has started.
- The 5th floor roof has been removed and installation of the new roof system will be completed by the next week
- Access will be needed and scheduled with occupants over the next several weeks for work on the roof drains and piping.
- Periods of hammer drilling and/or sawsall work will occur over the next few weeks in various areas.
- All entrances to the building will remain open and please be observant of construction equipment carting materials around the building.
Main Building – Lab (L) Renovations:
- Stairwell LS4: Will be closed except for emergency access until October 1. Lower sections of the stairs will be opened as work is completed. Please refer to signage and evacuation plans at each level on the stairwell doors. Alternative evacuation plans are identified in the event of an emergency.
- Construction drilling will occur sporadically during normal working hours. Noisy construction activities are scheduled to stop by 8 a.m. Users who are impeded by noise are encouraged to call John Banta 860-818-8857 or Steve Glanzrock at 860-227-6467.
University Tower:
Phase 2B Work continues and consists of:
- Site/landscape work outside old Emergency Department entrance.
University Tower, Seventh Floor – EMR Team Space Construction:
- There will be a brief 15 minute fire alarm test on Tuesday, September 27, at 10 am in the University Tower. Horns and strobes will go off in the unoccupied 7th and 8th Floors. To minimize disruption, only strobe lights (NOT HORNS) will go off in the occupied 6th floor patient care area. Thank you for your patience as we complete this requirement.
Main Building Renovation:
Main Building Entrance – Main Lobby Renovations:
- The Main Lobby is closed for renovations. The renovations for the lobby are scheduled to be complete by the end of this year. Construction areas are closed and restricted to construction personnel only. Please follow signs for the designated detours around construction areas.
- The elevator at the main entrance will no longer run to the 2nd floor, but will remain running to Ground, Main and 1st floor for the duration of renovations.
Academic Building Addition and Renovation:
Building Addition Activities:
- On September 24 & 25, there will be crane activity over Academic Stair 2 entry and exit. There will be safety monitors posted stopping pedestrian track during crane activity in this area. Please contact Richard Spash at 860-216-7650 with any concerns.
Clinic Building Renovations:
- On September 23rd a crane will be delivered and located within the construction zone adjacent to the University Tower. The crane will be on-site for several weeks hoisting materials unto the roof of the Clinic Building. During this period there may be some disruption to building occupants as areas are temporarily closed for safety precautions. Please follow all posted signage and do not relocate any barriers.
- Demolition work continues on the 2nd floor, 1st and Main floor. Please follow directions on all posted signage and do not enter Construction Areas.
