  • Notice Regarding Outdoor Air Quality

    Dear Colleagues,

Due to ongoing wildfires in Minnesota and Canada, outdoor air quality has been impacted by elevated particulate levels, resulting in noticeable smoke odors across campus. Consequently, the UConn Fire Department has seen an increase in reports related to smoke or burning smells.

Please be aware that our building HVAC systems are functioning as intended and, as part of their normal ventilation operations, may bring in some outdoor odors.

If you detect a smoke odor in your work area and believe it may be unrelated to the current wildfire conditions, or if you suspect a fire or other emergency, please report it immediately to University Safety. We encourage everyone to prioritize safety and report any concerns.

Wildfire smoke is expected to continue affecting air quality over the coming days, and intermittent smoke odors may persist during this period.

Thank you for your awareness and cooperation.
