    Managers: Please post this update in your respective areas.

    University Tower (T) – MRI Upgrade with Mobile Unit

    • Project Scope: Install utilities in T SB, B and G to exterior chiller and Mobile MRI location next to PET CT Trailer.
    • Schedule: Work to begin late March and run through early Summer 2026
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will occur during normal business hours. 
      • Be aware of posted signage. Do not enter construction areas.
      • Construction work may generate some intermittent noise. Please contact Andrew Lescoe at 959-710-6558 with any issues.

    Administrative Services Building (D) – Data Center Generator and Power Improvements

    • Project Scope: Upgrade existing power, generator and HVAC improvements to the Data Center
    • Schedule: Phase 1 Interior work to begin March 23, 2026, completion mid-summer. Phase 2 to replace generator, starts Fall 2026, completion Winter 2027.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will mostly occur during normal business hours.
      • Be aware of posted signage. Do not enter construction areas.

    Center for Comparative Medicine (B) – BB013 Research MRI

    • Project Scope: The Renovate room BB013/013A to house a new Research MRI Machine, including MEP work in surrounding areas.
    • Schedule: Work to begin late- January with completion anticipated late June 2026.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will occur during normal business hours. 
      • Be aware of posted signage. Do not enter construction areas.

    400 Farmington Avenue (R) - Cell & Genome Sciences Building – Chemical Storage Room R1361 Fume Hood & Safety Upgrades

    • Project Scope: The project consists of the replacement of the existing chemical fume hood system and general room renovations and upgrades.
    • Schedule: Work to begin in December, with completion scheduled for late April 2026.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will mostly occur during normal business hours. 
      • Be aware of posted signage. Do not enter construction areas.

    University Tower Building (T) – IT Disaster Recovery Room TSB102

    • Project Scope: The project consists of the upgrade of the fire suppression system to a waterless system more appropriate for a data room environment. This work also includes upgrades the existing HVAC system currently servicing the room.
    • Schedule: Work to begin mid-September, with completion scheduled for April 2026.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will mostly occur during normal business hours. 
      • Be aware of posted signage. Do not enter construction areas.

    Transgenic Animal Facility Building (K) – Roof Replacement

    • Project Scope: Replace existing ballasted roof with new EPDM roof. Replace walkway from Parking Lot A2 to the Building E entrance.
    • Schedule: Roof replacement was completed in Fall 2025. Walkway/Bridge replacement will occur from April 6th through Fall 2026.  It will be closed until mid-July for safety reasons and again later in the Fall.
    • Impacts:
      • A crane will be removing existing walkway panels above the Building K roof on Tuesday 4/14.  Some Basement Level labs and a small section of corridor directly below the crane work will be closed on this date for safety reasons.  Occupants have been notified directly.  Please be aware of signage and follow instructions of construction personnel when encountered.
      • Construction will mostly occur during normal business hours.
      • Certain specific tasks are scheduled on weekends to limit impact on building operations.
      • The Building E entrance from Parking Lot A2 will be closed starting April 6th for safety reasons to allow the bridge/walkway to be removed and replaced.  Signage will be posted directing staff to alternate nearby entrances.  It will reopen with a temporary railing in Mid-July, then close again for approximately one month in Fall to allow the new side panels to be installed.
      • Area 1 parking capacity in Lot A2 will be temporarily reduced by approximately 17 spaces starting Monday April 6th to allow for a construction mobilization area for the walkway replacement.

    CT Tower (H) – Main Level – Interventional Radiology (IR) and Support Areas Renovation

    • Project Scope:
      • Phase 1 - Create a new IR Room, C-Arm Room, Patient Restroom, Reception/Waiting Room and partial IT Closet.
      • Phase 1A – Create a new Reading Room, full IT Closet and two permanent Patient Restrooms.
      • Phase 2 – Create a new Changing Room, Patient Restroom, Clinical Staff Space and Stretcher Holding Area.
    • Schedule: Work on-going, completion late Spring 2027.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will occur during normal business hours. Material deliveries and trash removal will occur off hours.
      • Certain specific tasks are scheduled on weekends in order to limit impact in clinical areas.
      • Be aware of posted signage and room closures. Do not enter construction areas.
      • Construction work may generate some intermittent noise and odors. Please contact Janice Hill at 860-480-6392 with any issues.

    Clinic Building (C) – Basement & CT Tower (H) Basement – Central Sterile & Endoscope Suite

    • Project Scope: Renovate existing Central Sterile and the creation of an Endoscope Suite.
    • Schedule: Phase 1 (Endoscope Suite) completed. Phase 2 work on-going, completion April 2026.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will mostly occur during normal business hours.
      • Be aware of posted signage. Do not enter construction areas.
      • Construction work may generate some intermittent noise and odors. Please contact Richard Spash at 860-371-7205 with any issues. 

    Replace Main Liquid Oxygen Tanks - West Loading Dock Receiving/A4 Parking Area

    • Project Scope: Provide temporary oxygen tank on trailer until new permanent oxygen tanks are provided. Create new larger tank pad, fenced enclosure and surrounding walkways to accommodate new liquid oxygen tanks.
    • Schedule: Work to occur mid-September 2025 through May 2026.
    • Impacts:
      • Limited emergency, currier, vendor vehicle parking and maneuvering.
      • Pedestrians must stay within identified walkways.
      • Be aware of all notifications, barricades, detours, actives and stay clear of the oxygen tank trailer.
      • Area 1 parking capacity in Lot A4 will be temporarily reduced by approximately 40 spaces to allow for construction and installation of the new oxygen system.
