  • Construction Update - November 25

    Managers: Please post this update in your respective areas. 

    Campus Site Lighting and Garage 2 LED Light Upgrade

    • Project Scope: Replace existing lights with LED lights.
    • Schedule:  Work will start the last week of November and run through the end of 2024.
    • Impacts:
      • Be aware of construction activities and workers.
      • Be aware of posted signage.  Do not walk through construction areas.
      • Construction work may generate some intermittent noise. Please contact Andrew Lescoe at 959-710-6558 with any issues.

    EV Charger Installation – Garage 2 and Garage 3

    • Project Scope: Installation of new electrical feeds and EV Chargers.
    • Schedule:  Work will start mid-November and run through the end of the year.
    • Impacts:
      • Be aware of construction activities and workers.
      • Be aware of posted signage.  Do not walk through construction areas.

    Lab (L) & Clinic (C) Buildings – LED Light Upgrade in Stairs and Penthouse

    • Project Scope: Replace existing light fixtures with LED light fixtures.
    • Schedule: Work will begin in Mid-October and continue through the end of the year. Work will happen intermittently as lights are available to install.
    • Impacts:
      • Be aware of work. Areas will remain open and passable during construction.
      • Construction work may generate some intermittent noise and odors.  Please contact Andrew Lescoe at 860-679-3338 with any issues.

    Canzonetti Building (F) – Roof Replacement

    • Project Scope: Replace existing roof with new roof.
    • Schedule:  Work to begin October 1st and will be completed late fall 2024.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will mostly occur during normal business hours and all building entrances will remain open.  
      • Certain specific tasks are scheduled on weekends in order to limit impact on building operations.
      • Roof drain work in the ceiling of the main cafeteria seating area and the portions of Radiology that are in F Building will be scheduled off hours to minimize disruption.
      • Dumpsters and construction materials will be located in a fenced area on the grass outside the Procedures Center entrance. Be aware of posted signage and construction vehicles.  Do not enter construction areas.
      • Materials will be lifted to the roof from a small fenced area in Lot A3.  Be aware of posted signage and sidewalk protections/modifications. Do not enter construction areas. Be aware of construction vehicles traveling through the parking lot.

    Clinic Building (C) Ground – Autopsy Area Renovation

    • Project Scope: The Project consists of an interior renovation of rooms: CG054 (Grossing Lab), CG047A (Lab), CG047 (Autopsy), and CG048 (Morgue)
    • Schedule: Work will start October 9th and be completed by the first week of March 2025.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will mostly occur during normal business hours. 
      • Be aware of posted signage.  Do not enter construction areas.

    Clinic Building (C) – Basement & CT Tower (H) Basement – Central Sterile & Endoscope Suite

    • Project Scope: Renovate existing Central Sterile and the creation of an Endoscope Suite.
    • Schedule: Phase 1 (Endoscope Suite) construction will start September 17, 2024, and be complete by December 1st. Phase 2 Central Sterile will follow the completion of Phase 1 and be by early April 2025.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will mostly occur during normal business hours.
      • Be aware of posted signage.  Do not enter construction areas.
      • Construction Barriers will close access to the Men’s and Women’s from H Basement Center Core.

    400 Farmington Avenue (R) – CGSB R1388 Data Center CRAC Cooling Unit

    • Project Scope: The project consists of installing a new cooling unit being located on the loading dock in the wire mesh enclosure with the condensing unit located on grade level in the grass area adjacent to the loading dock. Work inside the Data Center consists of new ductwork, minor electrical changes, and replace a UPS.
    • Schedule: Construction on-going, completion Fall 2024.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will mostly occur during normal business hours. 
      • Be aware of posted signage.  Do not enter construction areas.

    West Loading Dock Receiving/Parking Area – Temporary Oxygen Tank

    • Project Scope: Provide temporary oxygen tank on trailer until new permanent oxygen tanks are provided.
    • Schedule: Early July through Late Fall 2024.
    • Impacts:
      • Limited emergency, currier, vendor vehicle parking and maneuvering.
      • Pedestrian walkways – Pedestrians stay within identified walkways.
      • Be aware of all notifications, barricades, detours, actives and stay clear of the oxygen tank trailer.

    CT Tower (H) – Main Level – HM043 Radiology Fluoroscopy Room Renovation

    • Project Scope: Renovate fluoroscopy Room 9 and install new imaging equipment.
    • Schedule: Construction on-going, completion early 2025.
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will occur during normal business hours. Material deliveries and trash removal will occur off hours.
      • Certain specific tasks are scheduled on weekends in order to limit impact in clinical areas.
      • Be aware of posted signage and room closures. Do not enter construction areas.
      • Construction work may generate some intermittent noise and odors.  Please contact Janice Hill at 860-480-6392 with any issues.

    CT Tower (H) - H4 NESCI/CBDC Relocation/Renovation

    • Project Scope: Renovate Level 4 of the Connecticut Tower to create the New England Sickle Cell Institute / Connecticut Blood Disorder Center. Construction will consist of demolition, new wall partitions, finishes, lightning, and modifications to existing utilities.
    • Schedule: Construction on-going, completion early Fall 2024.  
    • Impacts:
      • Construction will occur during normal business hours.
      • Certain specific tasks are scheduled to be performed during off-hours to reduce impacts on adjacent clinical operations.
      • Be aware of posted signage and room closures.  Do not enter construction areas.
      • The project is not expected to have significant impact on clinical operations.
      • Construction work may generate some intermittent noise and odors.  Please contact David Riggles at 860-461-9386 with any issues.

    Clinic Building (C) – Second Floor – EP and Cath Lab 1 Renovation

    • Project Scope: Renovate existing EP and Cath Lab 1 and install new equipment in both rooms.
    • Schedule: Phase 1 (EP) construction is complete. Phase 2 (Cath Lab 1) construction is in progress, completion early Winter 2024.
    • Impacts:
      • Parking Lot M2 will be closed on Saturday 10/5 so a crane can deliver new HVAC equipment to the C Building rooftop.
      • Several corridors will be a bit more narrow due to the placement of infection control partitions to facilitate demolition.
      • Cardiology Exam Room C2117 will be out of service until December.
      • Construction will occur during normal business hours.  Material deliveries and trash removal will occur off hours.
      • Certain specific tasks are scheduled on weekends in order to limit impact in clinical areas.
      • Be aware of posted signage and room closures.  Do not enter construction areas.
