Additional UConn Health Information

  • Library Weeding Project

Dear UConn Health Sciences Library Patrons:

UConn Health Sciences Library is embarking on a large space planning project with the goal of providing an updated library space to meet the current needs of our students, researchers, faculty, and staff. Part of that work involves a large weeding project of about 20,000 print volumes.

Weeding is a common library practice to keep the books we have on our shelves to those that are most current and useful. As the type of preferred information format has shifted from print to digital, we do not need to house as many print volumes as we used to. At the same time, our medical and dental programs are growing which means we have more students who need more places to study. This is a perfect time to move unnecessary print volumes and make room for students.

All of the print volumes that will be pulled are on this list. Each volume will be placed on a Giveaway cart and then will eventually be recycled. If you see a print volume you want, be sure to let us know so that we can set it aside for you. Be sure, as well, to peruse our Giveaway carts. We will begin recycling discarded books May 1.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact me, and I will discuss your concerns with you.

    Sincerely,

    Susan A. Fowler, MLIS (She/Her/Hers)
