This is to remind our workforce and learners not to park in areas designated for patients and visitors when on campus for work or academic purposes.
Not only is parking in a patient parking area a citable offense, and repeated occurences are considered a violation of UConn Health Rules of Conduct, it's also poor customer service, and it can become a safety matter when it interferes with snow removal.
During winter storms, our facilities and ground personnel are out in force, supplemented by contracted snow removal crews, to mitigate the weather impacts on the roads, parking areas and sidewalks. We can all do our part in the snow removal efforts by parking only in appropriately designated areas, and observing the instructions during parking bans.
During winter weather, please be attentive to the UConn Alerts (opt in at alert.uconn.edu/get-alerts) for any special parking instructions, such as keeping the surface lots clear and parking in the covered sections of our garages. This enables our crews to keep our campus as safe and accessible as possible for the entire UConn Health community, and keeps patient parking areas free for patients.
Although staff and students who have arrived on campus prior to the start time of the bans are not required to move their vehicle, it is appreciated when you are able to if your work or academic responsibilities allow you the time to safely move your vehicle into one of the garages.
Deans, directors and managers, please share this information in your areas.
Thank you and be safe.
