Inspiring Women in Engineering and Medicine
We are very excited to announce an upcoming IWEM workshop on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Musculoskeletal Institute (MSI) at UConn Health.
At the Inspiring Women in Engineering & Medicine (IWEM) workshop, we are committed to exposing young women to the rewarding fields of medicine and engineering. In a time where women comprise such a small fraction of the workforce in these fields, IWEM creates an opportunity for women to experience and appreciate what these male-dominated professions entail. Our goal is to inspire hope in these young women by providing an unparalleled experience into these fields. We strive to recruit high school students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds into our program to equip them with the excitement, knowledge, and mentorship necessary to pursue careers in these fields.
IWEM is a FREE, four-hour, hands-on workshop for high school women who are interested in pursuing careers in Medicine or Engineering.
We are currently seeking applicants for our UConn Health program. Participants should be students who gender-identify as female or nonbinary in grades 10+ with an expressed interest in science, medicine and/or engineering. We would appreciate it if you could spread the word to any high school students you may know.
Applicants can fill out our online application through the Jan. 25 7 p.m. deadline. The IWEM workshop has limited capacity, so applicants should not delay.
The IWEM application may be accessed directly using the following link: https://www.drcoyner.com/iwem.html
