Choose one:
A. 3 Minutes “Wet” time.

Quiz 2 (8/12)
The reason we must have a solid shelf on the bottom of a wire shelving rack is:
A. Items don’t fall through the wire to the floor
B. When a mop cleans the floor it doesn’t splash the items stored on the shelving
C. It looks prettier
D. It collects the dust on the shelves rather than the floor
- Rationale: This is one of those best practice solutions that is derived from local (and sometimes state) public health codes. Where this comes up during Joint Commission surveys is infection control standard IC.02.02.01, EP 4, which calls for the hospital to implement infection prevention steps when storing medical equipment, devices, and supplies. Non-solid bottoms of wire racks allows for splashing on to items when the floor is being mopped.

Hand lotion (pick the statement that is true):
A. It is acceptable to use any type of hand lotion because it protects the integrity of your hands and can also be pleasantly scented.
B. It is important to use petroleum-based hand lotion because that provides the best protection for your hands.
C. It is very useful to use hand lotion because it makes putting gloves on easier.
D. Only hand lotion that is compatible with hospital-approved hand hygiene products should be used because petroleum based hand lotion can decrease the effectiveness of the hand hygiene products.
- Rationale: Petroleum-based hand lotion can affect the permeability of gloves and decrease the effectiveness of antimicrobial hand hygiene products. CHG compatible hand lotions must be used.
Quiz 4 (8/19)

Christmas Tree Oxygen Connectors:
A. Green Christmas trees used to connect oxygen tubing to the regulator are durable and can be used inter changeably between patients.

C. The green Christmas Trees are for single patient use and must be discarded when it is no longer required for that patient.
D. Christmas Trees must not be disinfected because the disinfectant will impair the coloring and material of the Christmas Tree and the item will appear unclean.
- Rationale: For these and all devices if packaging states "single patient use" or "single-use only" do not reuse and will discard/change the device between patients. They would be considered contaminated after patient use.
Tape: Although a sticky subject, the issue with tape or residual tape left on items is:
