Fall 2018 Dependent Child Tuition Waiver for UHP Employees, Faculty Members, and Managerial/Confidential Employees – DUE 6/1/18

UConn and UConn Health offer certain employees a tuition waiver benefit for their dependent children. If you are eligible and are planning to take advantage of this benefit, please be advised that the deadline for waiver applications for the Fall 2018 semester is June 1, 2018.

Applications for the Dependent Tuition Waiver are accepted online only. Employees without computer access can visit Human Resources from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to use the computers in the reception area. The Dependent Tuition Waiver workflow requires only a few moments to complete and automatically routes your waiver request to the appropriate offices. To access the online waiver please click on the following link - http://health.uconn.edu/human-resources/wp-content/uploads/sites/24/2015/12/instructions_child_tuition_waiver.pdf and follow the directions provided. Also please be aware if your child is a newly admitted student, you will not be able to complete a waiver request until after May 10, 2018. Questions may be addressed to Teri Chasse at 860-679-2791 or tchasse@uchc.edu.

    Key Points:

Dependent Child Tuition Waivers cover only the tuition component of an eligible dependent’s course fee. It will not cover any room and board charges or any other assessed fees.

A separate waiver request must be submitted for each child, each semester.

The eligible employee must be employed a minimum of 50% to be eligible for a dependent child tuition waiver. Less than 100% employment requires a waiver to be prorated to the current percent of employment (from 50% – 100%).

The student who will be benefitting from the waiver must be the dependent child of an eligible employee and less than 24 years of age in the calendar year in which the child will receive the waiver.

The benefit applies to Fall and Spring semesters only - it does not apply to Summer sessions.

The student must be matriculating into an undergraduate program at UConn.

Most study abroad programs have no tuition component or a tuition component that is considerably less than the UConn tuition fee. The waiver will equal the actual amount of the tuition charge for the student’s program.

Please check with the Study Abroad Program administration for the specifics of your dependent’s particular Study Abroad Program.
