Title: What is Topological Data Analysis?
Abstract:
The speaker will give an overview of the basic questions in data analysis that might naturally lead one to invent topological data analysis if it didn’t exist already. He will cover its relationship to problems in geometry and statistics and will give an overview of the different research directions that currently define the frontiers of the field.
