It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of one of our students. The UConn Police Department have confirmed that Jeffny Pally passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 16, 2016. Jeffny was a sophomore student from West Hartford, CT studying Allied Health Sciences.
Losing another student in such a short time frame is difficult for everyone. Jeffny was very involved on campus as an RA, a member of Delta Gamma sorority and a student leader in Community Outreach. Once the University was notified of her loss, we immediately began outreach to friends and family.
Information about funeral services will be made available as soon as they are finalized.
Counseling and Mental Health Services (CMHS) is available to provide support to the community at this time of loss. CMHS office hours are 8:30 -4:30 Monday-Friday and they are located on Arjona 4th floor. There is also a counselor on-call after hours who can be reached by calling 860-486-4705. Students identified as needing support should be encouraged to either walk in during office hours or to please call. The Dean of Students Office located on the 2nd floor of Wilbur Cross is available to assist students struggling with the loss of their classmate. You may make an appointment by calling 860-486-3426 or stop in during walk-in hours Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00-11:00 and 1:30-3:30, and Tuesday 9:00-11:00.
This is a difficult time for UConn and for the Pally family. A team of professionals from throughout the University continues to meet and mobilize resources to help our students, employees and others in whatever ways may be necessary.
Christine Wilson, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs will be working with interested students in planning a UConn campus memorial service for Jeffny. Planning will begin after the funeral.
