  • Alternative Break: Rural Poverty and Environment

What is an alternative break trip?

An alternative break trip is a chance for UConn students to learn about and immerse themselves in a community that is affected by the trip issue.

    What will I be doing?

You will attend 8 mandatory pre-trip meetings, spend your Spring Break in West Virginia, and attend one post-trip meeting. Our trip issue is rural poverty as well as environmental challenges the area faces. You will meet new people, perform service, reflect and learn how to become an active citizen! The service will include home repairs within the community and trail maintenance.

    How do I apply?

Applications can be found using this link http://communityoutreach.uconn.edu/alternativebreaks/ and clicking the green button on the left side of the page. They are due on October 26th at noon!!!

How can I find out more?

If you have any questions about applying or want to know more about the trip contact Olivia and Jeremy at uconn.co.appalachia@gmail.com. You can also come to an information session we will be hosting along with this year's Mystery Alternative Break trip on October 18th at 8pm in Laurel 106.
