    Spanish-Based Health Project

    Are you a student interested in International Public Health? Are you looking for research experience to give you an advantage in your career? Adding research experience to your resume will make you a much stronger candidate for graduate school, job searches, and give you valuable research experience that will give you a better overall understanding of your field.

     

    Description of Project: The selected student will be working under the direction of Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator, Dr. Tania Huedo-Medina and her Project Coordinator, Aviana Rosen to assist on several research projects with Latino Countries, such as Cuba, Spain, and more as projects expand. Projects are related to public health topics such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes, and the Mediterranean diet. From this independent study, the student can expect to gain knowledge in international public health, gain exposure working with institutions from several countries, and will gain valuable research experience on ground-breaking projects that will make them a competitive candidate for job searches and graduate schools.

     

    List of Responsibilities:

    • Conduct literature reviews of pertinent topics, in English and Spanish.
    • Draft and write documents, emails, letters or any other necessary papers in Spanish.
    • Translate, when needed, documents from English to Spanish, or Spanish to English.
    • Assist in the coordination or day-to-day operations of the research projects through contact with the PI and PC.
    • Communicate when needed in Spanish to project collaborators.

     

    Student must be fluent in Spanish and have high proficiency in Spanish writing and grammar skills. Student must have strong interpersonal and communication skills in both Spanish and in English. Prior research experience is not required, and all necessary tasks will be explained or taught to the selected student.
