Enjoy a wonderful evening on the Great Lawn at Storrs Congregational Church UCC, take in some wonderful music, and help support a local good cause... all at the same time!
The annual summer Concerts on the Lawn series at Storrs Congregational Church UCC features the Dunham Memorial Carillon (tower bells) housed in the church steeple as well as a variety of local and touring music artists. The proceeds from each concert's free-will donations will go to benefit a local service-mission agency.
Thursday, August 4 at 6:00 pm: The opening performance on August 4 will feature the East Woodstock Cornet Band, a concert band comprised of approximately 35 musicians from Woodstock and the surrounding towns; the band’s repertoire is a wide variety of music from overtures and classical music to marches, show tunes and pop. Then, on the Dunham Carillon, we'll feature carillonneur Toru Takao, from Emmerich, Germany.
August 4th's concert will support the Uniform Fund, part of the Back To School Program at WAIM (the Windham Area Interfaith Ministry). It provides area school children with certificates to help purchase a new outfit: pants, uniforms, or other necessary items like shoes, underwear, etc. for the first day of school.
Other details: The outdoor concerts are free of charge and open to the public. Seating is on the lawn of the Storrs Congregational Church UCC at 2 North Eagleville Road, adjacent to the University of Connecticut’s main campus in Storrs. Bring along a picnic dinner and dessert, lawn chairs, and blankets to enjoy the music. And invite your family and friends too!
