  • 3/9 Film Series--Native American Cultural Society

Join us for a screening of We Still Live Here, followed by a discussion with Linguistics Professor, Dr. Jonathan Bobaljik. The film and discussion will be held in the Asian American Cultural Center Main Room (SU 428) from 6-8 PM, and light snacks will be served.

About the Film: Like many Native American stories, this one begins with a vision. Years ago, Jessie began having recurring dreams about familiar-looking people from another time, speaking in an incomprehensible language. These visions sent her on an odyssey that would uncover hundreds of documents written in Wampanoag, led her to a Masters in Linguistics at MIT, and resulted in an unprecedented feat of language reclamation by her people. Jessie's daughter, Mae, is the first Native speaker of Wampanoag in a century.
