Become a Big: Mentor a Local Student & Make an Impact
Looking for a meaningful way to get involved at UConn?
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut gives UConn students the opportunity to become a Big (mentor) to a local student and build a one-to-one relationship that can make a lasting difference—for both of you!
As a Big, you’ll be matched with the same Little each week. Together, you’ll talk, play games, participate in activities, work toward goals, and have fun. No mentoring experience is needed—just a willingness to show up, be yourself, and be a consistent, positive person in a young person’s life.
Along the way, you’ll build leadership and communication skills, connect with the local community, and add something meaningful (and fun!) to your college experience.
The commitment: Choose one site that works with your schedule and attend once a week.
Transportation is available to and from all sites through UConn Community Outreach! Transportation time is not included in the program start times below.
MONDAY
W.B. Sweeney Elementary — 3:30 PM
Barrows STEM Academy — 3:15 PM
TUESDAY
Natchaug Elementary — 3:15 PM
WEDNESDAY
Putnam Elementary — 3:15 PM

Lunch 5 — 10:44–11:30 AM Lunch 6 — 11:34 AM–12:20 PM Lunch 7 — 12:24–1:10 PM
Need to get back to campus? Transportation back to UConn is available after Lunch 5 and Lunch 6—you don’t have to stay for all three periods.
THURSDAY
North Windham Elementary — 3:30 PM
