Harrison “Honey” Fitch was a pioneering three-sport athlete and the first Black basketball player in UConn history. Celebrated for his athletic talent, dignity, and perseverance in the face of racial discrimination, he inspired fellow students to stand against injustice. Fitch was posthumously inducted into UConn’s Huskies of Honor in 2022, recognizing his enduring impact on the university’s athletic and social-justice legacy. On October 17, Saturday, at 1:00PM, Fitch will be enshrined at the Ruby & Calvin Fletcher African American History Museum in Stratford, CT. The event is free and open to the public with refreshments being served. UConn faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend!
