  • 7/30 Soil Matters Conference

    Healthy soil and soil-smart practices are integral to nature-based solutions, successful wetland restorations and productive fields & gardens.  The Southern New England Chapter (SNEC) of the Soil & Water Conservation Society is excited to host SOIL MATTERS, our 2026 conference, at UConn Storrs!  Our program features several presentations of research findings by staff and students from UConn’s College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources as well as UMass Department of Earth, Geographic, and Climate Sciences and the Environmental Studies Program at Southwestern University, TX.  Subject matter experts will share their knowledge about wetland restoration, resource protection and smart management practices.  Soil Matters also include a pair of hands-on workshops on soil microscopy and soil classification, a series of short modules about innovative landscape construction materials, a table-top Rainfall Simulator demonstration and more!

    SNEC, a small non-profit organization serving CT, MA & RI since 1946, offers Student Discounts and 25% off for Groups of 3 or More who Register Together. In addition, an anonymous sponsor will subsidize the cost of parking for up to 10 students including graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
