Open call to actors!
Casting has begun for a performance of two original, one-act plays on April 10th and 11th.
The plays (Eros and Psyche and Hans-my-Hedgehog) are adaptations from folklore, and are part of a play cycle investigating and restaging folktales from around the world classified by the Aarne-Thompson-Uther folklore index as type 425. The two plays in this production will interweave human and puppet performances to bring to life the fantastical elements of the tale type, as well as to investigate the distinctly human narrative at its center. No previous experience with puppets is required! The puppet work will be fairly minimal, and any necessary skills will be taught as part of the rehearsal process.
We are casting for roles in both Eros & Psyche and Hans-my-Hedgehog. Actors of all skill levels are encouraged to reach out to Emily Finch at emily.finch@uconn.edu with interest in or questions about the production.
