Weekly Updates With The Office of Sustainability

    Monday, March 9, 2026 - Sunday, March 15, 2026

Fun Fact: Did you know plastic can take 500 years to decompose? This means that every single piece of plastic ever made still exists on Earth in some shape or form. Plastic and the production of it is very harmful to wildlife and the environment. Instead, use sustainable materials such as linen, hemp, paper, cardboard, or recycle the plastic we already have.

Reason to Smile: Sharks and rays are extremely vulnerable to overfishing and population collapse because they mature late in life and only produce a few young. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) of Wild Fauna and Flora just made the landmark decision to strengthen the policies protecting 70 of these crucial species! The new protections outlaw fishing of the species and take measures to protect their environments. Read more here

Joke of the Week: Why did the tree get a promotion? Because it was outstanding in its field 🌳
