📢 UConn O.R.B.I.T. – Now Recruiting!
O.R.B.I.T. (Organized Research Building: Idea-to-Publication Track) is a student-run club that teaches research the way people actually learn it: by doing it. Our goal is to create a welcoming space where students can understand how research works before joining a lab and build real skills that can lead to posters, abstracts, and even student-led publications.
Here’s what we’ll actually be doing throughout the semester:
Research Before Labs: Learn how to read papers, build a research question, understand IRB and research ethics basics, and reach out to labs with confidence.
Publishing and PI Spotlights: Hear from faculty and grad students about how projects become papers, plus practical advice on publishing, authorship, and research workflows.
Skill Bootcamps: Hands-on sessions on data analysis (R, SPSS, Python), OSF preregistration, meta-analysis basics, and writing strong conference abstracts and posters.
We are also recruiting students to join our executive board. Open positions include:
Treasurer
External Relations Chair
Programming Director
Social Media Manager
Freshman Representative
Membership and executive board roles look great on a resume, especially for students aiming for MS, PhD, MD, or DMD programs, and anyone interested in building real research skills. All majors and all years are welcome to apply.
