Negotiating the Border: Venezuelan Migration to Peru by Dr. Dena Aufseerer

Dr Aufseeser will present her research findings, highlighting key insights from her study on the experiences of Venezuelans who have migrated to or through Peru since 2025, to consider mainstream theories and ideas about migration.
Dr. Dena Aufseeser is an associate professor in the department of geography and environmental systems at University of Maryland Baltimore County. Her research is concerned with the production of child poverty and inequality in a range of spaces. She takes a multiscalar approach to examine the relationship between children's rights and the governance of economically disadvantaged children. Her work addresses questions related to migration, children's work and activism, urban development, and education, among other topics.
