Weekly Updates With The Office of Sustainability

    Monday, February 16, 2026 - Sunday, February 24, 2026

    Upcoming Events... Don’t miss out!

    • Recyclethon: compete against other residence halls to see who has the best recycling practices… for a prize! The event runs the entire month of February starting on the 1st.

    • EcoTotes: paint your own reusable tote bag on February 24 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm in the North Multipurpose Room!

Fun Fact: Switching the font on documents from Arial to Century Gothic saves 30% of ink when printing. Get more use out of your ink cartridges!

Reason to Smile: Scientists have developed a promising small-scale solution to coral reef loss through a new technology called Seedbox. This technology allows for coral eggs to be transplanted to a new section of the reef that has been damaged, and then slowly releases them when they are most likely to succeed. Recent trials in the Great Barrier Reef demonstrated results up to 56 times more successful when measuring settlement rates compared to those of natural processes.

CT Sustainable News: The Connecticut Green Bank has officially surpassed $3 billion in total investments, aiming to support and foster sustainable practices in the state! The CT Green Bank is a financial institution that provides CT residents, communities, and companies with loans, accounts, investments, and monetary assistance to support sustainable practices. This milestone signifies the success of the green bank model that combines public-private relationships and the idea that everyone should be involved in the green economy and a sustainable future.

Joke of the Week: What kind of plant grows on your hand? A PALM tree
