  • Student Filmmaker Wanted for Documentary Project

Are you a student with filmmaking experience who is looking to work collaboratively on a meaningful, student driven documentary project? Look no further.

I am a UConn student developing a documentary centered on post ICU syndrome and recovery after critical illness. This project is inspired by the ICU Diary Project at UConn Health and aims to create a more accessible and human centered dialogue about what life looks like after the ICU for healthcare staff, students, and the broader public. I have a clear vision for the story and access to clinical and patient perspectives, but I am looking for a creative partner with filmmaking experience to help bring this vision to life.

Together, we would apply for a grant to support the project, plan and shape the documentary over the summer, and film and edit interviews during the fall semester. If the grant is awarded, funding would be used to compensate both collaborators. I am especially interested in working with someone who wants to contribute a filmmaking perspective early in the planning process and help shape the narrative and visual direction of the final piece.

This opportunity is open to students from any major with filmmaking experience or a strong interest in documentary storytelling. Most work would take place on the Storrs campus, with the possibility of local travel for interviews.

If you are interested in collaborating or would like to learn more, please reach out to me at grace.gewirtz@uconn.edu as soon as possible!
