  • 2/2 Biodiversity and Conservation Genomics Training

UConn’s Biodiversity & Conservation Genomics (BCG) Undergraduate Training Program housed in the Institute for Systems Genomics is accepting applications for our year-long integrated training and research opportunity: Summer 2026-Spring 2027.

This research focused program prepares students for careers in biodiversity genomics. BCG accepts students across a diverse set of majors to tackle urgent questions about how species adapt and respond to environmental change.

Participants gain direct experience with skills that may include: field sampling, molecular techniques, DNA sequencing, and bioinformatics, working on real projects involving the generation of primary reference genomes for threatened plants and animals.

    • Work in interdisciplinary research teams
    • Learn current genomic and bioinformatic methods
    • Engage with faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and external collaborators
    • Receive mentoring in research, communication, and career development
    • Contribute to high-impact science
