Research

  • Participants Needed for Sports Medicine Research

PARTICIPANTS WANTED for a research study to determine how running acutely effects ultrasound measured intramuscular stiffness in people with and without chronic exertional compartment syndrome.

    WHO CAN TAKE PART?

    • Both people with chronic exertional compartment syndrome and those without this condition and are physically active (to serve as a healthy comparison).
    • People between 18-45 years of age.
    • Free from other lower leg injury, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

WHERE & HOW LONG IS THE STUDY? Participants will take part in 1 research visit to the UConn Sports Optimization & Rehabilitation Lab located on the UConn Storrs campus. The total estimated time commitment for this study is 1 hour.

WHAT DOES THE STUDY ENTAIL?  After completing health and activity questionnaires you’ll have ultrasound images taken of your lower leg, you’ll then run on a treadmill for 15 min (or until onset of pain for people with chronic exertional compartment syndrome) and then additional ultrasound measurements will be taken.
