  • Female Bone Health Study

    Are you a female college student interested in participating in a bone health study? 

    Researchers in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Connecticut are recruiting female college students to participate in a 5-day studyto explore lifestyle factors associated with bone health in college-aged females.  

    We are looking for healthy, college-aged females who: 

    • Are aged 18-22 

    • Experienced the onset of menses (i.e., period) 

    • Must not be pregnant 

    •  

    Study Details: Participants will take part in two lab visits (approximately 45 hour each) at the Performance Nutrition and Body Composition Lab on UConn's Storrs Campus. Lab visits include assessments such as body composition analysis, blood draws, and a variety of questionnaires. 

    Additional study tasks include: 

    • Dietary tracking (over 3-day period) 

    • Wear wrist accelerometer (over a 3-day period) for physical activity tracking 

    • Collecting a stool sample (once) 

    Compensation and Benefits: Participants will receive $75, along with bone density results (from DXA scan).
