Recent attacks on federal research funding pose an existential threat to universities and medical schools across the country, including UConn and UConn Health. These are not simply budgetary assaults; they are direct threats to higher education, to free speech, and to human rights.
We have had enough. On Thursday, April 17th, faculty, staff, and students at UConn are joining colleagues all over the country for a National Day of Action.
· 12:00-1:30 pm: Join us for a rally on the UConn-Storrs campus at the UConn Student Union Terrace. The speaker list includes AAUP-UConn President Dr. Chris Vials, US Senator Richard Blumenthal, CT State Senator Mae Flexer, CT State Representative Joe Courtney, and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz. · 4:00-5:30 pm: The UConn-AAUP is also hosting “Dictatorship in America”, a panel discussion with Q&A, held in SHH 408. The session will be moderated by Dr. Jeremy Pressman and will include a panel of UConn faculty members, Dr. Ruth Braunstein (Sociology), Dr. Thomas Hayes (Political Science), Dr. Jennie McGarry (Educational Leadership), and Dr. David L.
