This year, UConn’s Undergraduate Student Government (USG) allocated $70,000 to be spent on free printing for students. This money is being spent faster than ever before, and at this rate, will not last until finals week.
Although $15 appears in every undergraduate student's WEPA account under “Storrs 24-25”. This money is not guaranteed. This amount acts as a spending limit to ensure that the money is spent equitably, and that all students have equal access to printing.
Every time a student prints with USG money it chips away at the $70,000. Once undergrads collectively reach this amount, each student’s remaining balance will disappear, and printing will become an out-of-pocket expense.
We currently have less than $13,000 remaining in the pool, and with a few weeks left of the semester, USG is urging students to print only absolutely necessary documents. Additionally, consider using single-sided and black and white printing options.
Thank you!
