Join us at the Rainbow Center (SU 403) on Friday, March 7th, for a movie night in celebration of Black History Month! We will be screening The Watermelon Woman (1996), a semi-autobiographical romantic dramady about Cheryl, a young Black lesbian filmmaker, researching a forgotten 1930s Black actress, credited only as 'The Watermelon Woman', and known for playing 'mammy' roles. Cheryl's increasing identification with The Watermelon Woman complicates her personal life and budding romance. The film is not only a classic, but also the first feature film directed by a Black lesbian, Cheryl Dunye. Snacks will be provided!
