What is the Purpose of the Study?
NeuroFlex is a digital cognitive (thinking) intervention designed to treat cognitive defects that are common in older adults with depression. Already tested on English-speaking populations, this study sets out to evaluate the cultural competency of a Spanish-translated version of NeuroFlex. The purpose of this focus group is to obtain cultural and linguistic feedback on the NeuroFlex intervention so that issues may be corrected before the main study begins.
Who is Eligible to Participate?
You may be eligible for this study if you:
- Are Spanish speaking
- Are Hispanic/Latinx
- Are an adult between the ages of 55-90 years old
The entirety of the focus group will be conducted in Spanish. Participation will be approximately 2½ hours with a more detailed breakdown of this session below:
During the pre-discussion phase (15 minutes), you will voice your opinions on common barriers to treatment like cost, access, language, and acculturation among minorities in the US. During the testing phase (1 hour), you will actively play the Spanish NeuroFlex alpha-version of both games with a 15-minute break in between. During the post-discussion phase (30 minutes), you will be asked to voice your opinions on the games and share them with other participants. Finally, during the co/design workshop phase (15 minutes), you will access the games again to workshop/sketch any specific suggestions.
