Learn about political and legal cultures from around the world. Course will explore the ways in which state power operates, the politics of modern nationalism, and offer students methods to analyze and understand modern politics and law anthropologically. Why is punishment harsher in some parts of the world? How does the modern state shape our lives? How do emotions constitute rights? The course will cover topics from Europe, India, US, and Latin America.
