Exploring Mental Health Stigma and Narratives

2nd generation immigrant young adults frequently feel a loss of cultural identity between their biological and lived-in cultures. On top of that, stigma around mental health is a jarring issue within this population; not to mention in South Asian communities.

Children of South-Asian immigrants oftentimes feel pressure to sacrifice their personal desires for the expectations of their family, culture traditions, miscommunication and accessibility to health-care providers, and much more that contribute to mental health.

My MFA thesis project hopes to address these issues and draw on the narrative of those experiencing it first hand. The survey linked serves as an introduction to recruit potential: https://forms.gle/QTaFn6a4Buujrcf59
